What to wear in spring? Tone On Tone

Party Dresses - Monochrome Effect

The monochrome effect is when you dress with a multitude of layers of similar toned garments. Basically it is wearing multiple layers of the same or similar color. This can also be called tone on tone because it basically is matched very similar toned colors to create a luxurious and posh effect.

The key to a successful monochrome or tone on tone outfit is to mix and match different textured materials together to create a seemingly simple outfit but quite complex upon further inspection. Mix silks with linens with cottons and with denims. Combine a shiny gloss with dull and flat fabrics. People will notice the intricate details.

With a monochrome outfit you can also include one dramatic standout piece.

I have chosen a sandy beach jersey knit dress with nude shoes.  The colors are similar but the textures are much different. The bubble skirt is fun and flirty as is pleated scoop neck. The multi-strained gold necklace adds some dramatic sense of class.
